We start our daily fantasy hockey week with just a two-game slate to work with for our DFS needs.
Florida Panthers @ St. Louis Blues (St. Louis, -140, 5.5 over/under)
Anaheim Ducks @ Arizona Coyotes (Anaheim, -160, 5 over/under)
All four teams are really in-play when dealing with a two-game slate, so I’ll walk through some key numbers for each team. This month, through nine games, the Blues have scored a league 10th-best 3.11 goals per game and have only allowed 1.56 goals per game — least in the league. Through six games this month the Panthers have allowed 3.17 goals per game and have a team save percentage of just .898 percent. While Florida has been better over their past two games (allowing three total goals) the three games before they allowed 7, 6 and 4. St. Louis just had their six-game win streak broken on the 18th. On the season St. Louis has been a good offensive home team with 3.03 goals per game (on the road they average 2.64). But there are some big red flags you should take into considering when piecing together your lineups tonight: St. Louis only has an xGF/60 of 2.32 at home (per corsica). And over their past 10 games they only have a SCF/60 rate of 25.39 (per naturalstattrick). Both of those numbers represent 5v5 situations. I still do like St. Louis at home:
Alex Steen (6.3K) / Jori Lehtera ($4.1K) / Vladimir Tarasenko ($8.1K) make up the most obvious stack as they together on the St. Louis first line and first power play unit. Expect very high ownership of Tarasenko tonight.
You could pivot to the second line in tournaments: Jaden Schwartz ($5.6K) / Patrik Berglund ($4.2K) / David Perron ($4.9K).
Ivan Barbashev ($3.2K) makes an interesting tournament play tonight on a night where we’re reaching for lower-owned players. Barbashev has one goal and one assist over his past two games.
On the Florida end we have a team that is riding a four-game winning streak and have averaged 4.17 goals per game over their six games in February — highest in the NHL. Barkov has been on a tear over his past five games with five goals, two assists and 12 shots on goal. We’ll start with his line when looking at Florida stacks:
Jonathan Huberdeau ($6.3K) / Aleksander Barkov ($6.8K) / Jaromir Jagr ($5K)
Huberdeau has four goals, four assists and 20 shots on goal over his six games played this season. Jagr has two goals and three assists over his past five games. This line is certainly cash and tournament worthy tonight.
Jussi Jokinen ($4.9K) / Vincent Trocheck ($6K) / Reilly Smith ($4.7K) make a fine tournament pivot tonight as we’ll likely see a lot of the action go the Barkov line.
The tournament play of the night, in my eyes, comes in the form of
