Welcome to the Friday edition of the daily fantasy hockey morning coffee. I hope your week has been profitable and if you’re on the east coast are warming up after the Bomb Cyclone. I made it through with my Ariens Sno-Tek, Death Wish coffee, and an ample supply of Bud Light as I shoveled and salted the driveway late into the evening. Unfortunately the Boston Bruins game was cancelled and I had to look for new lines to stack on FanDuel.

Tonight we have a five-game slate to work with today for our DFS purposes:

Tonight’s Slate:

Pittsburgh Penguins @ New York Islanders (even, 6 over/under)
Florida Panthers @ Detroit Red Wings (Detroit, -125, 5.5 over/under)
San Jose Sharks @ Ottawa Senators (San Jose, -125, 5.5 over/under)
Buffalo Sabres @ Winnipeg Jets (Winnipeg, -160, 5.5 over/under)
Vegas Golden Knights @ Chicago Blackhawks (Chicago, -125, 6 over/under)

The team I want the most shares of in both tournaments and cash games is the Winnipeg Jets. Tonight the Jets get a Buffalo team that allowed an NHL seventh-worst 3.15 goals against per game in December and are on the second night of a back-to-back. On the second of back-to-backs Buffalo has allowed 3.56 against per game.

Last month Winnipeg had the fourth best offense in the NHL averaging 3.47 goals for per game. Additionally, the Jets scored 15 power play goals in December and had a power play unit that had a success rate of 25 percent. Winnipeg is also drawing a lot of penalties and led the league in power play opportunities last month with 60.

Over their past 10 games Winnipeg leads the NHL in CF% at 56.05 percent while Buffalo had the fourth-worst CF% in the NHL over that same time frame at 46.41 percent. Expect the puck to tilt heavily in Winnipeg’s favor tonight. Over their past 10 games Winnipeg has a SCF/60 of 34.45 — third-best in the NHL — and their HDCF/60 of 15.43 over that time frame is the best in the league.

As we noted earlier in the week, while the Mark Scheifele injury does hurt Winnipeg’s offense overall it gives us a very interesting first line to stack.
