Welcome to the Tuesday edition of the daily fantasy hockey morning coffee. After a small two-game slate last night we’re back with a nice nine-game slate to pick apart for our daily fantasy needs. There are three games/teams in particularly I like tonight when considering where to start my roster construction:

Pittsburgh Penguins @ Carolina Hurricanes (Pittsburgh, -130, 5.5 over/under)
Winnipeg Jets @ Toronto Maple Leafs (Toronto, -145, 6 over/under)
Los Angeles Kings @ Colorado Avalanche (Los Angeles, -180, 5 over/under)

The first team I want plenty of shares of is the Pittsburgh Penguins. Through nine games this month Pittsburgh has averaged 3.11 goals per game and on the season Pittsburgh has been the fifth-best road team in terms of goals scored per game with 3.04. By contrast, Carolina has been the third-worst team in the NHL this month in terms of goals against per game at 3.40. Over their past 10 games the Penguins lead the NHL in SCF/60 at 32.36 (in 5v5 situations). Over the same time period Carolina has a HDCA/60 rate of 11.32 — ninth-highest in the NHL. The Penguins could see plenty of scoring chances tonight. If you’re familiar with this column you know I like to consider all three of Pittsburgh’s top lines if you are multi-entering a tournament:

Line 1:

Chris Kunitz $4.9K (9G, 17A, 3 PPP, 100 SOG)
Sidney Crosby $8.9K (32G, 33A, 18 PPP, 172 SOG)
Jake Guentzel $4.1K (6G, 6A, 31 SOG)

Line 2:

Carl Hagelin $3.9K (6G, 13A, 115 SOG)
Evgeni Malkin $8.6K (24G, 35A, 19 PPP, 157 SOG)
Patric Hornqvist $6.8K (17G, 17A, 13 PPP, 180 SOG

Line 3:

Scott Wilson $3.2K (5G, 12A, 95 SOG)
Nick Bonino $4.5K (8G, 14A, 5 PPP, 99 SOG)
Phil Kessel $7.3K (21G, 34A, 25 PPP, 165 SOG)
