Welcome to the Wednesday edition of the daily fantasy hockey morning coffee. Today we have a small four-game slate to dig through for our daily fantasy hockey needs.

We have the Capitals, Penguins and Blackhawks in action tonight — so there is plenty of fire power for such a small slate. We also have a St. Louis Blues team with a fantastic matchup against Arizona tonight. While of course Pittsburgh and Chicago are both very playable I want to start the basis of my roster construction with Washington and St. Louis.

Tonight’s games:

Chicago Blackhawks @ Pittsburgh Penguins (Pittsburgh, -135, 6 over/under)
Los Angeles Kings @ Calgary Flames (Calgary, -135, 5 over/under)
Washington Capitals @ Colorado Avalanche (Washington, -250, 5.5 over/under)
St. Louis Blues @ Arizona Coyotes (St. Louis, -180, 5 over/under)

The first team I’ll look to when forming many of my lineups are the Washington Capitals. Tonight the Capitals get a Colorado team that has all but called it a season at this point. Since the All-Star break Colorado has allowed a league third-worst 3.29 goals against per game including a league-worst 21 power play goals allowed. This month, over the course of 14 games, Colorado has allowed 50 goals — again, worst in the NHL. Their team save percentage of just .880 percent is, you guessed it, the worst in the NHL this month. Colorado also have the worst goal differential this month at negative 1.71. Over their past 10 games Colorado has CF% of just 48.41 percent. Washington, on the other hand, boasts a CF% of 56.22 percent — second-best in the NHL over the past 10 games. We should see heavy and consistent pressure on Colorado all game.
