As we form our lineups for the weekend, there is usually a lot of overlap between the authors of this column. Not this time.
This difference of opinion is not based on a distaste for the other’s players, but a shuffling of the deck in order to make salaries work. Unlike Week 2 – in which players were still wildly mispriced based off of one game’s output – Week 3 features a high number of players simply too expensive to fit into a roster. We are only to make it work when we look for value, and this is blatantly obvious for Sunday’s action.
Based on our expected Week 3 DFS game flow analysis performed earlier, we can carry our thoughts into actual lineup positions. The long list of players that fit the requirements set forth by the projected flow of the game was cut dramatically by the requirements set forth by salaries.
Below are Sporfolio’s DFS Week 3 Plays:
Quarterback
Deshaun Watson – Deshaun Watson is the first of many names you’ll see from the matchup between the New York Giants and Houston Texans. That may come as somewhat of a surprise given both teams’ poor starts to the season, but 0-2 squads are officially in desperation mode. No team can afford to go winless through three weeks, so with this game being a must-win, teams will lean heavily on their stars. The Giants’ defense hasn’t been bad to this point, but they also have not been tested. The Texans will be looking to air it out this week as that is the strength of their offense, and with the Giants not generating much of a pass rush, expect Watson to have plenty of time to make some big plays.
Alex Smith – No matter what you expect from Aaron Rodgers playing in Washington, this weekend, the Redskins will almost certainly need to be throwing to win. After tallying just nine points in its last outing, Washington’s offense appeared stale and lackluster. The bright spot, however, was that quarterback Alex Smith threw for nearly 300 yards in the loss. He is constantly at risk of being overlooked, but he should provide plenty of value for his low price, especially if he and Rodgers go toe-to-toe.
