After combing through our list of fantasy targets for this week, we have an odd trend emerging. Normally, when we list quarterbacks, we like to pair them with a pass-catcher. For the two most likely to give value from their legs, we actually leaned away from their wide receivers. Instead, we found value and options wherever else we could.
Based on our expected Week 7 DFS game flow analysis and Week 7 Games to Target published earlier, we can carry our thoughts into actual lineup positions. The long list of players that fit the requirements set forth by the projected flow of the game was cut dramatically by the requirements set forth by salaries.
Below are Sporfolio’s DFS Week 7 Plays:
Quarterback
Kyler Murray – Given what we know about the Cardinals it is mildly surprising that Kyler Murray only has seven touchdown passes this season. With that said, the talented rookie has reached at least 17 fantasy points every single game he’s played so far. With that in mind, he presents a high-floor, high-ceiling option this week in a great matchup and potentially great game flow as well. We’ve discussed at great length the potential for this game to be high-scoring, and if that happens, Murray figures to be at the center of it. His ability, and willingness, to run the ball plays a huge role in his fantasy relevance, but the matchup with a Giants defense that allows the second most passing yards per game makes him an elite option this week.
Lamar Jackson – One of the reasons why Lamar Jackson is often rated so highly in fantasy circles is because of his running ability. But, it isn’t just the added yardage he gets with his legs that give him value, it’s also the possibility of a 100-yard game on the ground from the quarterback position. In the past, the Baltimore Ravens have seesawed between trying to establish the pace of a game by grabbing the lead or grinding out drives to kill the clock. On Sunday, when the team travels to Seattle, it will almost certainly be pushed to perform offensively. We usually target a quarterback on a team that is expected to throw when chasing its opponent, but we’ll take the yards from Jackson however he wants to get them, this week.
Matt Ryan – It still looks like the Atlanta Falcons have no idea how they want to win games. That, or the team is flat-out bad and can’t establish anything anyway. Whatever the answer, it is almost unavoidable that the Falcons will have to take to the air if they have any chance of beating the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. The Rams should have plenty of success offensively, and it puts Atlanta in the familiar position of needing a big day from Matt Ryan. We’re ‘buying’ on this premise.
