We’re definitely starting to see a regression from the high-scoring games featured throughout the league in the first few weeks of the year. Still, we have plenty of excellent matchups that are primed to deliver points from start-to-finish.
A Note from Mario: Last week was not kind to us in any capacity, so it’s not surprising that I went 0-3 with the over-under picks. I will continue to provide these picks as I see fit, but please do your research and play responsibly.
In the world of daily fantasy roster construction, ‘stacking’ players from the same team can often lead to big results. In this column of games to target in Week 7, Luke and Mario will give their thoughts on a few games that are worth watching for fantasy purposes, and whether they like the value or feel the game is getting too much attention.
Luke’s Top Games to Watch
Detroit Lions at Atlanta Falcons
While it may be hard to have any semblance of confidence in either of these teams in terms of winning a football game, it is very easy to have confidence in both teams producing plenty of points this week. The Falcons’ offense had a couple moderately disappointing weeks before last week, but those weeks lined up with the absence, or limitation, or Julio Jones due to injury. Last week, Jones returned at full strength and made his presence felt in a major way as he dominated the Vikings defense to the tune of eight catches for 137 yards and two touchdowns. On the season, the Falcons have not had a single game below 300 yards of offense which gives them one of the safest floors in all of football. Give them a matchup against a mediocre Lions defense, at home, and there should be no doubt that the Falcons will be putting up points from start to finish in this one. The Lions’ offense has had a bit of a strange year; their total yardage numbers are very disappointing, but their efficiency numbers both through the air and on the ground are middle of the pack while their points/drive is good enough for 11th in the league. While these numbers paint a fuzzy picture, I’m going to trust my gut and trust the years of evidence supporting Matthew Stafford. He has shown us year after year what he is capable of, no matter how good or bad his Lions have been. I will happily put my money on Stafford being able to put up yards and points against a Falcons defense that ranks 31st in yards allowed, 31st in passing yards allowed and 31st in net yards per pass attempt. This game being played in a dome is the icing on the cake.
Cleveland Browns at Cincinnati Bengals
There may be no team in the league that has caused me to change my thinking more times throughout the season than the Cincinnati Bengals. I feel like every other week I find myself with a new opinion on them, but this weekPlease register or login to read the rest of the article.
