Ladies and gentleman, it is back.

If you follow my writing anywhere – Twitter, really – then you know I’m involved in a lot of different projects. Almost all of them are experiments that will eventually be brought to Sporfolio. Some, I don’t mention – simulations. Others, I am constantly testing and tinkering – spreadsheets. This is in addition to vetting potential writers on a semi-regular basis – accuracy is key, as I feel a responsibility to provide the best service possible.

The heart of this website, however, and the piece that forced it into existence is my football picks column. It’s what I most eagerly anticipate every year, and it’s the writing that gives me the most joy.

And it’s now back.

Over the next week, I’ll be finalizing my season-long prediction articles – AFC is almost done – and converting whatever isn’t geared toward the NFL to highlight the lifeblood of our website. And, of course, by Wednesday of Opening Week, my Week 1 picks article will be released. Later in the week, the DFS articles will be out.

Between now and then, some automatic payments will probably hit. As always, if I didn’t get to apply the returning member discount – 20 percent off, as per usual – give me a few days and it will be there. I still haven’t figured out the best way to apply coupons without mistakes other than doing it manually. My apologies for this.

Finally, to give some inspiration for this upcoming season, it’s worth noting that the picks were excellent, last year. 52.4 percent is considered the ‘breakeven line.’ All picks against the spread finished at 53.7 percent, and the confidence picks came in at 56.8 percent. If we were still tracked by NFLPickwatch – because of the paywall on our site, we no longer are – these picks would have finished third! That makes four top-three finishes in the last five years. I really wish there was a better way to share that news, but I’m no marketing expert.

Anyway, remember that level of consistency when judging our success rate. This is a long grind, and we will have ups-and-downs. Many of you remember that big down three years ago, and there was an endless flow of emails questioning if this was the end. It wasn’t. It was the middle of a five-year stretch. Now, you can see the whole picture. For the other four years, we were in great position.

Here’s to another great season!

And thanks, as always, for being a part of the site,

Mario
