Welcome to the Friday edition of the daily fantasy hockey morning coffee. I hope you have had a profitable week and ready the NFL playoffs this weekend. We another relatively small NHL DFS slate with only five games on the docket.

Tonight’s Slate:

Vancouver Canucks @ Columbus Blue Jackets (Columbus, -180, 5.5 over/under)
Washington Capitals @ Carolina Hurricanes (Carolina, -135, 5.5 over/under)
Calgary Flames @ Florida Panthers (Florida, -125, 5.5 over/under)
Winnipeg Jets @ Chicago Blackhawks (even, 6 over/under)
Edmonton Oilers @ Arizona Coyotes (Edmonton, -135, 5.5 over/under)

Tonight I’ll look to the Edmonton Oilers as a tournament play. Edmonton has struggled mightily over their past three games scoring just a total of three goals — and they only have one win in their past eight games while being shutout twice. So why look to Edmonton? Tonight they get an Arizona team that allowed a league fifth-worst 3.46 goals against in December and on the season have allowed a league third-worst 3.44 goals against per game. Arizona is also just one night removed from a trade that sent Anthony Duclair to Chicago for Richard Panik and it will be interesting to see how the lines shake out tonight.

Over their past 10 games Arizona has a CF% of 46.90 percent — fifth-worst in the NHL. Arizona has lost four of their past five games while allowing 16 goals over that time frame. Over their past 10 games Edmonton has a SCF/60 of 31.5 — sixth-highest in the NHL. Additionally, Edmonton’s HDCF/60 of 13.21 is the third-highest in the NHL over the past 10 games. While the scoring chances have not shown up on the scoresheet things could click tonight as Arizona has a team save percentage of just 90.94 percent — seventh-worst in the league.

On a side note, as a tournament play look to Arizona’s power play. While Arizona has not been winning games they have scored at least one power play goal in four straight games and have scored five total power play goals over that time frame. Edmonton has allowed the most power play goals against in the NHL this season at 40. It’s a long shot play, but one that could be lucrative as I’m sure we’ll get Arizona skaters with very little ownership tonight.
