We have a tidy five-game slate to pick apart for our daily fantasy hockey needs tonight. My main exposure will be on the Carolina Hurricanes at the Toronto Maple Leafs matchup. But there are some opportunities for DFS goodness elsewhere.

Let’s kick it off with the game I like the most from a DFS perspective tonight: Hurricanes at Leafs.

Games involving the Leafs are always interesting from a DFS point of view because of their ability to score goals in bunches … and allow them in bunches. They are third in the NHL with 3.17 goals per game and also fourth-worst averaging 3.28 goals against per game. Their CF/60, CA/60 are exactly what we look for when trying to determine the pace of a game: CF/60 of 61.78 — CA/60 of 61.30. Games involving Toronto average a total of 66.2 shots per game.

Shots = potential goals, and Toronto gives and receives with the best of them.

Carolina’s CA/60 of 50.31 will certainly tilt me toward more exposure on the Carolina side in GPPs, but I’ll have plenty of exposure to both sides of this one. Although Carolina is just in the middle of pack in averaged goals scored, they have put together a nice four game win streak with 12 goals over their last four games. They have also put up three power play goals over their past four games and are clicking at a nice 19.6 percent for the season.

Jeff Skinner $6.4K (7G, 8A, 5 PPP, 58 SOG)
Victor Rask $5.8K (8G, 7A, 4 PPP, 38 SOG)
Derek Ryan $3K (3 SOG)
Lee Stempniak $3.8K (4G, 5A, 2 PPP, 26 SOG)
(D) Justin Faulk $5.3K (3G, 4A, 4 PPP, 35 SOG)

make up Carolina’s top PP unit. While a power play stack is fine for our GPP purposes, it is rough – for us DFS players – how the lines are split. The first power play unit is spread across three different lines which leads me to prefer
