Welcome to the Tuesday edition of the Daily Fantasy Hockey Morning Coffee. We start our NHL DFS week with a nice nine-game slate to work with for our roster construction.

Tonight’s Slate:

Columbus Blue Jackets @ New Jersey Devils (even, 5.5 over/under)
Montreal Canadiens @ Philadelphia Flyers (Philadelphia, -170, 5.5 over/under)
Tampa Bay Lightning @ Washington Capitals (Tampa Bay, -111, 6 over/under)
Florida Panthers @ Toronto Maple Leafs (Toronto, -190, 6 over/under)
Nashville Predators @ Detroit Red Wings (Nashville, -113, 5.5 over/under)
San Jose Sharks @ St. Louis Blues (St. Louis, -145, 5.5 over/under)
Los Angeles Kings @ Winnipeg Jets (Winnipeg, -115, 5.5 over/under)
Boston Bruins @ Edmonton Oilers (Boston, -140, 6 over/under)
Colorado Avalanche @ Vancouver Canucks (Vancouver, -120, 6 over/under)

The first team I want shares of tonight is the Toronto Maple Leafs. Toronto has won six of their past seven games and this month have scored an NHL second-best 4.00 goals per game. Over their past 10 games Toronto has a SCF/60 of 30.48 — 10th-highest in the league. Plenty of their scoring chances have been quality scoring chances and over their past 10 games Toronto’s HDCF/60 of 13.13 is the sixth-highest in the league. On home ice in five on five situations Toronto has a xGF/60 of 2.80 — fifth-highest in the league (per Corsica). This month Florida has allowed a league 10th-worst 3.25 goals against per game.

On the season the MATTHEWS/HYMAN/NYLANDER line has been the second-most productive line in the NHL with 36 goals and 554 shot for. Over their past 10 games this line has been the best line in the league with 12 goals and 117 shots for. (per LeftWingLock). And the KADRI/MARLEAU/MARNER line makes for a great tournament option tonight as they have they been the third-most productive line in the NHL over the past 10 games with nine goals and 119 shot attempts for.

We ran through some numbers for Toronto’s second and third lines a few days ago, let’s update them again. Below is info on lines two and three for Toronto in five-on-five situations over the past 10 games (compiled using NaturalStatTrick‘s Line Tool).

The PATRICK MARLEAU – NAZEM KADRI – MITCH MARNER line has a CF% of 48.97  percent, SF/60 of 34.56, GF/60 of 4.58, a SCF/60 of 32.55, a HDCF/60 of 13.22 and an offensive zone face-off start % of 41.86 percent.

The JAMES VAN RIEMSDYK – TYLER BOZAK – CONNOR BROWN line has a CF% of 51.02 percent, a SF/60 of 28.6, a GF/60 of 3.57, a SCF/60 of 35.75, a HDCF/60 of 17.28 and an offensive zone face-off start % of 67.61 percent.

This line has seen 17 less minutes than the second line over the past 10 games. For the sake of comparison here are the stats of the Matthews line:

They have CF% of 46.61, a SF/60 of 35.87, a GF/60 of 6.15, a SCF/60 of 32.8, a HDCF/60 of 13.32, and an offensive zone face-off start % of 44.21 percent.

There is certainly a case to be made to stack Florida in tournaments. This month Florida has scored a league fifth-best 3.75 goals for per game and have won seven of their past nine games (though they did get routed by the Jets 7-2 their last time out). Over their past 10 games the Leafs have a SCA/60 of 35.06 — worst in the NHL — and their HDCA/60 of 13.01 is the fifth-worst in the NHL over the past 10 games. But they do have a team save percentage of 92.98 percent over the past 10 games which is good for eighth-best in the league.

On the Florida end we can look to a line stack of DADONOV/BARKOV/BJUGSTAD to start some of our tournamnet roster constitution. Over their past 10 games this line has been the seventh-most productive line in the NHL with seven goals and 136 shot attempts for. Florida’s power play has also been hot with a league-best 12 power play goals this month — and a league best 37.5 percent success rate. We can look to JONATHAN HUBERDEAU/ALEKSANDER BARKOV/VINCENT TROCHECK/EVGENY DADONOV/KEITH YANDLE as power play one stack tonight.
