We often approach a fantasy roster with the few players we need to have in our lineup and then let the amount of remaining cap space determine if we will be working toward balance or ‘stars-and-scrubs.’ In Week 5, the latter is a necessity, as the prices have moved dramatically and forced us to find value picks in order to offset the stars we want to own.

Based on our expected Week 5 DFS game flow analysis performed earlier, we can carry our thoughts into actual lineup positions. The long list of players that fit the requirements set forth by the projected flow of the game was cut dramatically by the requirements set forth by salaries.

Below are Sporfolio’s DFS Week 5 Plays:

Quarterback

Russell Wilson – We generally accept buying into Russell Wilson on a weekly basis as long as his matchup is not terrible nor his salary too high. On Sunday, we have the exact opposite setup. Wilson is going against a Rams defense that barely stopped Kirk Cousins and the Vikings, and Wilson’s salary is laughably low – basically the minimum for a starting quarterback. There is almost no conceivable way that Wilson isn’t heavily involved in Seattle’s offense, either trying to keep pace with the Rams’ scoring prowess or trying to set the tone, and the unconscionably low price makes him the best value play of the weekend. Wilson is also expected to have his favorite target – wide receiver Doug Baldwin – healthy, which elevates the passing game.
