After a small three-game slate last night, we’re right back to a big player pool with 12 games on the schedule tonight.
Initial Morning Coffee Thoughts:
My initial thought is that this feels like a very chalky night as there are some teams and games that could offer us a good number of goals – and this will be by far the chalkiest DFS Morning Coffee of the year. Even though I feel like ownership might be higher in those games, I’m still going to have plenty of shares of those teams as I believe they offer the most upside – even if the ownership isn’t all that favorable. And a 12-game slate does help even out ownership.
There are two teams that jump off page when scanning the schedule: The Washington Capitals and The Columbus Blue Jackets. And two games I’ll look to stack on both sides:
Dallas Stars @ Pittsburgh Penguins
Edmonton Oilers @ Winnipeg Jets
The New York Islanders head to Washington to face off against Alex Ovechkin and the Capitals. New York is on the road on second night of a back-to-back, have allowed a league seventh-worst 2.95 goals against and a NHL eighth-worst 15 power play goals against.
Washington’s power play has only clicked at a rate of 15 percent this season, but they have scored three power play goals over their last four games. This will be a popular play but I’m still going to have shares of the Capitals first power play unit:
Evgeny Kuznetsov $6.3K (3G, 6A, 1 PPP, 33 SOG)
Nicklas Backstrom $6.6K (6G, 14A, 8 PPP, 46 SOG)
Justin Williams $4.4K (2G, 2A, 1 PPP, 42 SOG)
Alex Ovechkin $8.8K (12G, 6A, 6 PPP, 86 SOG)
(D) John Carlson $5.9K (8A, 2 PPP, 50 SOG)
will all be in my player pool tonight. From those five players we can parse it down to a Backstrom/Ovechkin/Carlson PP stack tonight.
