We have a small four-game slate to work with tonight for our daily fantasy hockey needs. From those eight teams playing there are two teams I want to target as the cornerstones for my DFS lineups tonight:

Calgary Flames @ Winnipeg Jets (Calgary, -120, 5 over/under)
Dallas Stars @ Los Angeles Kings (L.A., -160, 5.5 over/under)

I’m going to lean on Calgary’s offense tonight in many of lineups. Last month Calgary scored an NHL fifth-best 3.38 goals per game and led the NHL with 17 power play goals. The Calgary power play has continued to roll in January scoring four power play goals on 12 chances. Winnipeg allowed an NHL second-worst 15 power play goals last month and only killed off 67.4 percent of their PK chances. Addtionally, Winnipeg allowed 3.14 goals against per game last month — eighth-worst in the NHL. This month Winnipeg has allowed nine goals in three games with two of those goals coming on the power play.

Winnipeg was a middle of pack scoring team last month with 2.57 goals per game — take Patrik Laine out that lineup (concussion) and we have a game I think tilts in Calgary’s favor, even on the road. Also, Winnipeg has not been a great home team this season with 2.87 goals allowed per home game.

While I wouldn’t take Winnipeg’s offense completely off the board (they have scored 13 goals in their last three games) the Laine injury takes a lot of the shine off what was an offense that was clicking at even strength and the power play.

One of my targets will be shares of the Calgary power play:

Kris Versteeg $4.2K (7G, 11A, 7 PPP, 48 SOG)
Sean Monahan $6.6KK (10G, 13A, 9 PPP, 90 SOG)
Alex Chiasson $3.6K (7G, 7A, 2 PPP, 57 SOG)
Johnny Gaudreau $7.6K  (10G, 17A, 10 PPP, 93 SOG)
(D) T.J. Brodie $4.5K (3G, 13A, 6 PPP, 41 SOG)
