As we wrote in our game flow analysis column, the early London game and four teams on a bye week has limited the number of targets we have for our fantasy lineups. The odd product of this is that salaries are extremely reasonable on Sunday. We found that we were able to mix-and-match a high number of combinations and, with some bargains we particularly love, not worry about salary as much as we have in the past.
Based on our expected Week 7 DFS game flow analysis performed earlier, we can carry our thoughts into actual lineup positions. The long list of players that fit the requirements set forth by the projected flow of the game was cut dramatically by the requirements set forth by salaries.
Below are Sporfolio’s DFS Week 7 Plays:
Quarterback
Cam Newton – Cam Newton has made our list this week for two main reasons: we love the Panthers in an ‘upset’ position, and he is simply under-priced. Wherever we can, we look for our players to return three times the value of their price – if we reach that number, we usually have a good week. Newton is priced down at $5,900 on DraftKings, and he is yet to score less than 18 fantasy points in a game, this year. Newton has thrown for multiple touchdown passes in four consecutive games, has three rushing touchdowns on the year, and is averaging just over 40 yards-per-game on the ground. Between all of that,it is not hard to see why he has such a high floor and ceiling each week. Given our feelings towards this game and the fact he is essentially a lock to bring back, at least, solid value, Newton is easy to plug into any lineup.
Baker Mayfield – Forget the name of quarterback and the team on which he plays for a moment and consider only the opponent. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have allowed at least 320 passing yards in all five games, this year. Their defense ranks dead last in points-per-game, touchdown-passes-per-game, and net-yards-per-pass-attempt. Quite frankly, any quarterback who will face the Buccaneers is in position to shine. Now, if we add back in the name and, with it, the terrible performance from last week, we can see that a ‘bounceback’ is likely. At an excellent price tag and with weapons all around him Baker Mayfield is one of the top fantasy quartback options of the day.
