Still only sixty minutes into the 2016 season, our Week 2 DFS plays are forced to rely on a combination of last year’s statistics – and game plan – and conclusions drawn from Opening Week. Thankfully, most coaches maintained their respective style of play, allowing the games to proceed generally as expected.

Sporfolio’s NFL Daily Fantasy Sports game-by-game analysis columns are driven by expected game flow. Based on a combination of our Week 2 NFL picks against the spread and our expectations for a given game, we project the actions necessary to make these picks come to fruition. We aim to pinpoint players integral to our predicted game flow for each game of the week.

Kansas City Chiefs at Houston Texans

Luke’s DFS Take: I would be shocked if Alex Smith produces numbers anywhere near last week’s statistics. The Kansas City offense, as a whole, saw stat lines inflate due to the team’s need for a second-half comeback. That, however, is simply not the Chiefs’ game plan. Lamar Miller makes for a good play as he should see a similarly large workload for the second consecutive week, contributing in both rushing and receiving attacks. Houston’s defense also makes for an interesting option, but proceed with caution, as Smith typically does not turn the ball over.

Mario’s DFS Take: I was comparably ‘down’ on the Houston offense entering this season, but a second-half comeback on Opening Day began to move the needle for me. Slightly. The best-case scenario for assessing the Texans unfolded, as we saw a perfect combination of both growing pains and success. Houston did struggle. Then it hit its stride. Expecting this to carryover into Week 2 is not necessarily as risky as we normally caution, as the Chiefs enter the game with a stronger regression waiting to pull them down. Houston will almost certainly rely on both Lamar Miller and DeAndre Hopkins on Sunday, as the two combined for 37 touches in Week 1. If going all-in on Houston, wide receiver Will Fuller led the team in targets with eleven.
